Tied to the good life: yachts for charter from 1,000 euros

The boat rental industry is bracing itself for a new flood of bookings as the leisure industry booms since the pandemic.

From the end of June until mid-September, yacht charter companies in the Mediterranean are preparing for a new flood of bookings.Last summer was one of the best for the industry, which saw the pandemic favour rentals and a more private, if not quieter, form of holidaying - that will depend on the individual. Because in 2020, many knew the benefits of sailing and enjoying the summer from the sea and this year they do not hesitate to repeat.

The dream of 'Generation X' | The only Pershing 8X available for charter, the yacht 'Beyond', is one of the 'top sellers' of the summer in the Balearics. The profile of the Mediterranean client is that of families, usually upper middle class, and groups of friends. Charter & Dreams is dominated by users from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Mexico and Argentina."Those with the highest purchasing power tend to rent lengths of around 30 metres, while families, managers or businessmen with average purchasing power choose lengths of around 18 metres.

Depending on the type of vessel, "an average family can rent a sailboat of between 20 and 24 metres, while yachts or catamarans of more than 20 metres in length are already high class", explain the specialised firm.

The time of use is variable, but can be daily or weekly, "with prices varying according to the type of yacht, ranging from 1,000 euros per day to 15,000 euros", added Náutica Santa Eulalia.

Fun from Santa Eulalia

With 11.8 meters long and 3.20 meters wide, two Volvo AD41 200hp engines, this 'tomahawk' 37 with capacity for nine people, skipper and home port in Marina Santa Eulalia (Ibiza), has been completely renovated in 2019 for those customers who want to enjoy the speed and sun of the beaches of Ibiza and Formentera. It has capacity for twelve people plus skipper and the most fun 'toys', such as a snorkel or SUP board or even a Sea Bob for high speed diving. With base port in Marina Botafoch and rental at Náutica Santa Eulalia. Price October: 1.743 euros per day. June and September: 2.124 euros/day. High season, July and August: 2.420 euros/day (fuel not included).
